Unlocking Your Potential and Finding Clarity on your Professional Journey

In an ever-changing world, the pursuit of a fulfilling career has become overwhelming for many. With an array of job options, changing market demands, and evolving skill sets, it is normal to feel unsure about your professional path. This is where career counselling and guidance can come into play. Working with someone to help you narrow your options by identifying strengths, interests, and values, can help you move toward a vocation that aligns with your unique abilities and likes. Whether you are questioning if you’re on the right career path, struggling to define your goals and aspirations, or feeling stuck in a job that is no longer fulfilling you, career counselling can help support you as you define your next steps and a pathway forward.

What can career counselling help me with?

  • overcoming challenges and roadblocks

  • gaining confidence and understanding of strengths

  • setting concrete goals

  • helping you make informed decisions

  • providing guidance and support

  • helping improve overall job satisfaction

  • identifying areas of interest

Career counselling helps to promote the self-awareness needed to make meaningful career decisions. Together you will explore your beliefs, values, and assumptions about the world. Understanding how these narratives shape your life, and challenging them where needed, can help guide you to more confident decision-making in all aspects of life. Career counselling is proactive and empowering and helps bring clarity at any stage of your career.

On finding her career path

There are so many factors that go into making career decisions, and the search for the right fit can feel endless and exhausting. Not only do we face the challenge of having to figure what we really want, but then we must grapple our way there, and hope it’s suitable and something we can find long-term meaning and success in. Commonly, we make our way to that finish line, then are later met with burnout, overwhelm, toxic environments, lack of fulfillment, and generally feeling like a stuck duck.

When I think about my journey to becoming a counsellor, the vision of a long and colourful charcuterie board comes to mind. Prior to joining the mental health field, I had a taste of the following industries: child and youth care, entertainment, restaurants, retail, marketing, sports, hospitality, sales, fundraising, and business development. It’s been a wild ride of trying to find the right combination of what I wanted in a job, and it’s come with confusion, hopelessness, anger, exhaustion, anxiousness, self-criticism, and extreme challenges around my confidence. I would still be feeling lost and stuck if it wasn’t for my own counsellors and the warm and encouraging space they provided.

My own life experiences are what guided me to where I am today as a counsellor, and it would be an honour to be a soft landing for any work and personal challenges you are trying to navigate. I take a strengths-based and holistic approach with career counselling and use a constructivist lens to promote client self-awareness of the processes underlying meaningful career decisions. Career counselling with me will look at narratives (beliefs, values, and assumptions), make space for honest reflection, and bring you clarity and a sense of empowerment. My aim is to be a safe and pro-active companion so that you can find your true callings and take the steps you want towards beginning, transitioning, and advancing your career.
