Hi, I’m Alex.

I have a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and am currently a pre licensed counsellor working toward registration with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. I joined this profession because I wanted to help people in the same way someone helped me. I really believe in the power of human connection and its ability to be healing and that is something I bring with me to our work together. My approach is gentle, down to earth, and always tailored to you. I believe you are the expert on your own life, so I will meet you where you’re at and adjust our work to fit your needs. I take a trauma-informed and anti-oppressive perspective, paying attention to how our past experiences and the larger systems around us have shaped our stories. And while I take our work seriously,  bring warmth and humour; I don’t believe we should be afraid to laugh together. I draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to guide our work and these approaches serve as guides through a process of personal exploration and fulfilment. I use techniques from the world of meditation, embodiment, metaphor and talk therapy to ground these processes of development and understanding and to help you to connect with and understand yourself.

I have a real interest in working with men’s issues; my position is that sex and gender can come with immense burden and privilege and a masculine identity can be a complex and dynamic one to carry. Whether it’s finding healthier ways to cope with stress or learning to express emotions without shame, talking openly about these topics can be a huge relief and a real source of strength. My support extends not only to those who are looking to explore a male identity but also to those struggling with some of the men in their livesI have a specialised  training in neurodivergence, and I love to work with adults with ADHD. My work focuses on understanding our own mental landscapes and proclivities and how they have developed as a result of our lived experience, while keeping an eye on how we can use that understanding to successfully navigating our lives. This means that as well as ADHD I also work with individuals that are struggling with difficult thoughts, feelings and patterns in their lives. I support people looking to recover from and live with OCD, addiction, social isolation, anxiety and depression. I'm also available to families and caretakers of individuals affected by online radicalization, helping them find understanding and hope.

At the heart of my work is the belief that therapy doesn’t have to be clinical or intimidating; it can be warm, human, and even fun. My goal is to create an environment where you feel like you can  be yourself, be supported in facing the hard stuff, and empowered to make lasting changes.

Whether you’re navigating a crisis, looking to understand yourself better, or just feeling stuck, I would be honoured to walk alongside you on your journey.

Vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity and change.
