Individual Counselling
Hi, I’m Olivia.
For me, counselling is one of the rare places in life where the world pauses. In that space, nothing else matters but being fully present with the person in front of me. I hold a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and am currently a pre-licensed counsellor working toward registration with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.
My path into this work began in an equine therapy setting, where I first saw the power of connection and the way it could transform people’s lives. Witnessing those moments of growth and relief in others was profoundly rewarding, and it sparked my decision to become a counsellor myself. Along the way, my background in neuroscience and cognitive science gave me a deeper understanding of how our brains and bodies influence what we feel and why. I find that blending this knowledge with empathy helps clients not only make sense of their struggles, but also develop greater self-compassion.
In sessions, I take a semi-structured approach: I provide a framework that offers stability and direction, while leaving plenty of space for clients to lead the way. This balance allows therapy to stay nimble—guided enough to keep us on track, but flexible enough to honour the natural flow of life and healing. I draw from person-centered, Acceptance and Commitment, and existential approaches to help people uncover their values, navigate challenges, and connect with what matters most.
I feel especially drawn to working with men around emotional regulation and dismantling the stigma that too often keeps them from seeking support. I see counselling as a place where those barriers can finally come down. Together, we can work on anger, communication, and emotional awareness in a way that feels safe, honest, and empowering.
I also value supporting people in their relationships—whether that looks like learning how to show up more fully as a partner, or navigating the complex challenges of loving someone with a personality disorder. Beyond that, I often work with clients facing anxiety, shame, chronic pain, and major life transitions, helping them find steadier ground and reconnect with their values.
At the heart of my practice is the belief that therapy doesn’t need to feel clinical or intimidating. It can be warm, real, and even lighthearted at times. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe enough to be honest, supported enough to take risks, and empowered enough to discover your own path forward.
Whether you’re seeking relief, growth, or simply a place to pause and catch your breath, I would be honoured to walk alongside you.
“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.”
