Shawna Dash RCC Completes SMART Recovery Family & Friends Facilitator Training

We’re delighted to share that Shawna Dash RCC has completed the SMART Recovery Family & Friends (GSF301) training — an evidence-based program designed to support loved ones of people navigating addiction and substance use concerns. This training deepens Shawna’s capacity to work gently and effectively with families, partners, and caregivers who are carrying the weight of someone else’s recovery journey while trying to stay grounded in their own well-being.

Shawna's Bio

SMART Recovery’s Family & Friends approach is rooted in compassion, practical tools, and nervous-system awareness. It gives supporters skills to communicate more clearly, reduce conflict, understand addictive patterns, and reconnect with their own needs. For many families across Vancouver, the Lower Mainland, and remote communities throughout British Columbia, these supports can be a lifeline — offering structure, hope, and a sense of steadiness during challenging times.

Shawna’s additional training allows her to bring these evidence-informed strategies directly into the counselling room, weaving them with Nimble’s mind–body, trauma-aware approach. Whether someone is coping with a partner’s substance use, feeling stretched thin by caregiving, or wanting healthier boundaries, this work helps people move toward clarity, resilience, and more ease in their relationships.

If you’re looking for counselling for addiction-related stress, support for families, or online therapy anywhere in BC, Shawna is currently accepting new clients.
